Vickie Remoe, born as Vickie Emma Remoe-Doherty on November 14, 1984, is a prominent Sierra Leonean entrepreneur, talk show host, and writer. She is best known as the executive producer and host of the popular Vickie Remoe Show, which is broadcasted on AYV TV. Additionally, she hosts the Make Sierra Leone Famous podcast and serves as the publisher of Swit Salone.
Vickie was born in Freetown, the coastal capital of Sierra Leone. Her father, Victor Remoe-Doherty, originally from Lagos, Nigeria, served as an officer in the Sierra Leone Police Force. Her mother, Nasratha Bakie Remoe-Doherty, worked as a diplomat at the Sierra Leone Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation. Vickie is the youngest of five siblings and the only child of her parents. Notably, her paternal great-grandfather was J.H. Doherty, known as the Merchant Prince of Lagos.
Vickie’s educational journey took her to various places. She attended middle school in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, before relocating to the United States at the age of 13. In 2020, during the early months of the coronavirus pandemic, Vickie spearheaded a fundraising effort that generated $60,000 within three months. These funds were utilized for emergency relief efforts in Sierra Leone’s hospitals. Additionally, Vickie displayed her writing talents during the pandemic by publishing two children’s books titled Adama Loves Akara and A Print for Ami.
